Brief history of the bigfoot memorial ride i think this is newsworthiness it has a possible future impact it has number of people and it has proximity and it has  importance and thats what make this story newsworthiness.

The new students at LWHS i think this is number of people in involved.  this possible future impact becase there are a lot of new students and Little Wound and Proximity becase it’s at Little Wound.

I think the stories that we write and  put into the “Mutang News” paper are newsworthy.

The paper on “Troubled Water Pipes” by Madeline and Destiny was very newsworthy. It was proximity to it and human interest for the locals and students attending. It was timely because it happened the same week it was written, and the result was no school. It was important to include it in the paper because it helped the staff, students, and parents understand the schools  situation.

Also the paper that Sandra and I wrote called “Brief History of the Bigfoot Memorial Ride” was also important to include in the newspaper. It had timliness because the Bigfoot Ride had just ended a week or so before. It had importance because a number of people know about the ride and have been on it. Proximity is a big factor because Wounded Knee is very close to many of our readers. Human interest is part of it and future impact is most likely a guarantee.

Another thing we include in the paper is “The Student of the Month.” Its very timely becuase it happens every month and the students always change. It has Proximity because the students and their family leave nearby. Importance, beacuse the students involved are known by some of the readers. Human interest too, because people like to read about other peoples lives.

I believe that the things we write for our paper are newsworthy and they affect some poeple that read it. We try to keep people intertained but also inform them.

            Yes, The Mustang News publishes articles that are newsworthy. They are all unique and inform the community about what is going on in the school. The articles have timeliness, proximity, human interest, have importance, and exceptional quality. Our articles are newsworthy because they have stories that deserve to be in the paper.

         Our articles on the new teachers are human interest stories. They’re about the new teachers, like where they taught before, and why the came to Little Wound School. The articles tell a part o the teacher’s lives. That’s why they are newsworthy, they are human interest stories, and the articles are telling about a new event that’s going on in the school.

       The Pipes Bursting articles have proximity and timeliness. The pipes burst in a building that’s part of the school and the school is part of the community. Timeliness is a big factor because the article was published as soon as the students returned to school, which was the next day. This article also deserved to be in the article because it was well written and our reporters did a good job at getting the story.

       The Memorial Ride article is also newsworthy because it’s honoring an important person. Also timeliness was a factor because one of our reporters went on the ride so she knew what was going on. It was in the area so it had proximity in the story. So that’s why the article is worth being put in the Mustang News.

          These articles are examples of why the Mustang News is newsworthy. We publish articles about events that happened in the area and they are published right away so they show timeliness. Some articles are about important people, and some are human interest stories as well. So yes, the Mustang News is newsworthy.

The Students from Des Manes Iowa wore arm bands to protest against the vienum war and that was during 1965.  The school board thought it wasn’t appropriate for the school and was going to suspend them if they didn’t stop.  The students were still trying to fight for what they believed in, and they won the right of freedom of speech.

Hazelwood School District vs Kurlmeier

The Students form Hazelwood east high had a newspaper and they talked about teen pregnancy and violence in school.  The School Principal thought it was not right to write things like to talk about in a school newspaper and was going to talk that out of the news paper.  The Student’s that wrote that would get in trouble and the Student’s fought back and they both had to go to court about what they should write about.  they fought for what was right but the principal won because he’s in charge of what on what goes on in school.

The tinker v. Des moines case is about a group of students protested against the vietnam war and how they did that they wore armbands with peace signs on them. This happend in December 11,1965 at Des Moines, Iowa. The courts decision was kinda bi-polar because at first they were like no to it then they were yes. This didn’t get out of hand or anything wild. The students didn’t invade the rights of other students and dosen’t interupt they’re learning.

The Hazelwood School District v. Kurlmeier case which includes; journalism class, the principle, and supreme court. The prinicipal censored two pages about teen preganacy and divorce from Hazelwood East High School Journalism Class. In may 1983 at Hazelwood east high school near St.Louis Missouri got they’re First amendment rights violated. The students on the spectrum staff filed a law suit against the school. Principal Reynolds thought the articles were unfair and inapporpriate to other students’. And the supreme court ruled that the pricipal had every right to censor articles in the students newspaper.

As a journalism student that means alot like would if i write something similiar like the Hazelwood case i would be offended because it is not unfair to other people becaus eit’s the truth it’s not like were lieing about the situation. And it really dosen’t mean anything at the moment until it does happen if it does im going to win my case. best believe that.

In the 1970`s President Richard Nixon was accused of hiring people to spy on the Demorcrats. All this happened in Washington, D.C.  By the end of everything President Nixon resigned due to the reporter of the Washington Post proving rumors were true.Nixon was the first & only president to resign from office. 

In my own personal opinon I would of resigned too and atleast save himself some embarresment from getting fired. He was wrong in what he did and he knew he just didn’t think he was gona get caught. The reporters who covered this story did a great job by digging up the dirt on things. The people had a right to know what happened. He was the president and that wouldn’t look good keeping that kind of thing under wraps.

On Friday May 8, 2009 the Porcupine school held the Teca Wacipi Okolakiciye or T.W.O Finals. There the little wound school attended. The powwow was held in the new school gym. Grand entry started at 1:30, just after the first grand entry the elementary division handgames started. With it ending by supper break. As the contest was still going on, High school division started with Red cloud vs. little wound. LWS Beats Red cloud but unfortunately they not make it to championship. This years Dance club sponsors were Erlene Rooks, Dawn Iron Cloud, Handgame sponsors were Erlene Rooks (High school), Hope Cross (middle school). This years dance club had a total of 14 dancers and for hand games 18students. This year they have also handed out Overall awards that were jackets.

Overall Champions For 08-09 School year.

9-12 grade Jingle- Lindsey New Holy

9-12grade boys Tradish- Jonas Bear Heels

6-8 grade girls Tradish- Tamara Rooks
